Crysis 3 Will Push 360, PS3 “to Its Limits”, Says Crytek

Crytek had already said the project they would unveil during April, which turned out to be Crysis 3, looked “spectacular”. So, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the developer has stated the forthcoming shooter will push the PlayStation 3 to its limits.

Responding to a user on Twitter about the game’s full potential being held back due to consoles’ age, the founder, CEO and president of Crytek Cevat Yerli assured him that despite the fact that the next gen isn’t too far off, Crysis 3 will still be able to push more stuff out of the PlayStation 3 and 360 in a technical aspect:

Crysis3 will push the 360, PS3 to its limits, ahead of Crysis2, but Crysis3 PC will be clearly ahead!

In addition, Yerli confirmed that the third installment in the multi-million unit selling franchise will act as a spiritual successor in terms of gameplay to the original Crysis as opposed to the more recent Crysis 2.

Crysis 3, which takes place in the year 2047 within New York and also sees returning protagonist Prophet, is currently scheduled for a release sometime during the spring of 2013.

Gameplay footage of the game will arrive next week while its teaser can be viewed here.
