Activision has confirmed they’ll be bringing over mobile hit series Angry Birds to the PlayStation 3.

Speaking to The Escapist, the company said they’ll be the publisher responsible for bringing a fully-fledged Angry Birds title to consoles. Previously, the game arrived on the PS3 as a PlayStation ‘minis’ release. A company spokesperson stated:

We’ll have some news for you in about two weeks. Wait until you see Angry Birds on consoles in HD.

Activision social media manager Dan Amrich, meanwhile, added:

Activision is doing some form of Angry Birds on consoles. It’s the teasiest of the teases, but it is official.

Angry Birds creator Rovio has enjoyed much success with the franchise: over half a billion players have downloaded the game, with the recent Angry Birds Space surpassing 100 million downloads since its late March release. Rovio itself is also valued at several billion dollars. But can the developer remain successful despite having one core franchise?
