Buser: Aside From More Free Games, its “Still the Same PlayStation Plus”

At Sony’s E3 press conference last week, the company announced that their premium online service PlayStation Plus would be seeing a few changes, leading many to believe that a substantial overhaul would be taking place. Sony’s senior director of PlayStation digital platforms, Jack Buser clarified the changes to PlayStation Plus, noting that nothing is being altered besides the addition of more free games.

In response to a followup from Joystiq, Buser explained that “everything that you’ve enjoyed from PlayStation Plus remains very much the same. It’s still the same PlayStation Plus.” So fear not, as everything you love about the service won’t be fading any time soon.

If you love the huge discounts, if you love the exclusive access to betas, if you love the other things that are also delivered by the service, you’re going to see that those other things are still a part of PlayStation Plus – the cloud saves, the automatic updates, all that other stuff.

What we’ve announced is that we’re amplifying the free games aspect of PlayStation Plus. We are really ratcheting that up, because that’s what the community told us they wanted to see.

It’s hard to find much to complain about here. For those of you that have remained on the fence with regards to PlayStation Plus, has the slew of new free games won you over? Let us know in the comments below.
