Sony Confirms The Last Guardian Lives, Weird Rat-Bird-Cat Still Coming To PS3

After we broke the news that Sony hadn’t renewed The Last Guardian‘s trademark, many couldn’t help but wonder what that meant for the status of SCEJ’s troubled PS3 exclusive. Luckily, Sony has finally confirmed that the game is still in development.

“The project is still in development. Nothing new to report at this time” said Sony in a statement, expanding on their original “no comment”. While it’s definitely great to hear that the game is still coming, the question as to why the trademark was left to be abandoned remains – after all, Sony reregistered and rerenewed their 1999 trademark for The Legend of Dragoon just days before, showing that they clearly don’t just have a forgetful legal department.

Perhaps, with the game having been in development so long that the original meaning of the title is null, or because it sounds a bit too much like The Last of Us, Sony has decided that the title needs a name change.
