Analyst Believes GTA V Will Sell 25 Million in First Year

Few video game franchises bear the selling power of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series. As such, one analyst believes that the upcoming fifth installment will sell big numbers during its first year. 25 million copies big.

EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich told NowGamer:

The HD market is softening as we enter into the tail end of this generation, but fortunately this softening has had little impact on our precious AAA titles.

I have little concerns about when it is released. GTA IV already proved to the market that even an April release, which has historically been avoided by the industry, can support a 20M+ title. Whether April, June, or even Winter, I’d expect GTA V to sell in upwards of 25M copies in its first 12 months.

Are you pumped for the spring now that Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V will be launching sometime in that timeframe? The studio plans to release a new trailer for the game a week from today, so be sure to tune in to PlayStation LifeStyle next Wednesday for the new clip!
