PlayStation Awards Shed Light on Poor Year for Software Sales in Japan

December 4, 2012 Written by Alex Osborn

Japan’s annual PlayStation Awards were quite disappointing, without a single piece of software earning a Platinum. In order for a game to receive such an award, it must break 1 million units shipped over the course of a year.

There were however, five PlayStation 3 games that were awarded with Golds (500,000 units), but the Vita didn’t manage to earn a single one. Instead, Sony had to create a “special category” for the top five shipped games for the Vita.

Here is the full list of awards:

Gold Prize

  • World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs.
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2
  • One Piece: Pirate Warriors
  • Resident Evil 6
