Konami Open to Working With PlatinumGames on a Metal Gear Rising Follow-Up

Yesterday, we told you that PlatinumGames would love to make another Metal Gear spin-off if given the chance. It looks like Konami shares Platinum’s sentiment for the desire to follow it up. Kojima Productions told Eurogamer that depending on Metal Gear Rising’s success, a sequel could be in the cards. From producer Yuji Korekado:

If people like Metal Gear Rising, if the fans who play this game ask for more, that would be awesome, That would be great for us and we would be happy to consider working on another game in Metal Gear Rising.

He also stated that Rising was created as a collaboration between the strengths of both Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames “…so if we were to create a sequel we definitely want to work in a similar partnership”.

Korekado also provided Eurogamer with some insight into Kojima Productions talk for further sequels and spin-offs in the Metal Gear universe and how they would be interested in exploring other facets and characters of that world:

We believe in the Metal Gear world there are several other characters and settings and other elements that can lead to more projects, If I start saying names and specific characters or elements then people will start thinking we’re actually working on those projects, but I believe on Snake’s side of course there are many characters how are very interesting. Not only that, but also on the enemies’ side we believe there are many characters how have potential to be worked on.

Does Metal Gear Rising look like a game that you will want a follow-up to once it releases? Are you interested in exploring the stories and worlds of any other characters in the Metal Gear universe? Which characters would you like to see get a starring role if Kojima Productions decides to take that direction? As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle for future updates.
