WWE Game License May Have Been Acquired by Take-Two

While the WWE wrestling franchise seems almost inseparably linked to the now-gone THQ, the publisher never actually owned the IP, just the rights to distribute the series’ many titles.

That’s why we didn’t hear about it earlier today, when Deep Silver bought Saints Row and Ubisoft nabbed The Stick of Truth, as the auction purely focused on THQ’s assets. IGN now reports that Take-Two has made a deal with WWE, and presumably the developer Yuke’s, outside of the auction, to take up the mantle of franchise publisher. Nothing is official yet, although IGN expects a formal announcement soon.

The most important aspect of this report is that the series is safe, but what do you think about choice of publisher? Let us know in that comments box below, otherwise we’ll try out some moves on you.
