Rare Veteran George Andreas Leaves Microsoft, Becomes Creative Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe

After working at Rare for 16 years, George Andreas has left Microsoft to join Sony’s London office as creative director of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Andreas worked at the studio back when they made awesome Nintendo games such as Donkey Kong 64, GoldenEye and Killer Instinct Gold, but was also a key developer for such ‘games’ as Kinect Sports 1 and Kinect Sports: Season 2. He also had a hand in the development of the Kinect hardware itself.

While we hope this means that Andreas will be getting back to his roots and making the type of games that Rare used to be loved for, Sony is heavily thought to be working on a PS Eye successor akin to the Kinect for the PS4, with SCEE London suspected to be central to their camera development plans. Sony London also has a history of making the company’s casual titles.

Still, we can always dream that The Getaway and Eight Days are in development.
