February 5, 2013 Written by Anthony Severino

Although PlayStation Home is firstly a social hub for PlayStation gamers, over time Sony has added plenty of classic arcade games to bolster the service’s offering on the PlayStation 3 and making it a destination for gaming. Now, those same classic arcade games and more will be available on the PlayStation Vita through a new PlayStation Home Arcade app.

The free PlayStation Vita app is available today, and comes equipped with two free games—WipEout 2D and Icebreaker—as well as a free playable demo of Scribble Shooter. More titles are available for the price of $1.49 each, which gets you access to the arcade game on both the PlayStation Vita through the PlayStation Home Arcade app, as well as PlayStation Home on the PlayStation 3.

The following titles are available:

  • Icebreaker (Free) – Sony Computer Entertainment
  • WipEout 2D (Free) – Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Scribble Shooter (Demo available for free) – Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Frogger – KONAMI
  • Time Pilot – KONAMI
  • Asteroids – ATARI
  • Centipede – ATARI
  • Astrosmash Gen2 – INTELLIVISION via Realtime Associates
  • Shark! Shark! Gen2 – INTELLIVISION via Realtime Associates

Bringing the PlayStation Home Arcade to the PS Vita is an excellent way for PlayStation Home to have a presence on the budding handheld platform. Will you be downloading this free app today?
