FuturLab: Velocity 2X is a PS Vita Game We’re “Also Publishing on PS4”, New Project Announcement on Friday

Earlier this year, FuturLab’s Velocity 2X was revealed for release on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2014, complete with Cross Buy and Cross Saves. To give a little more information about the game, FuturLab Managing Director James Marsden took to the PS Blog and replied to a commenter who hoped the PS4 and PS Vita versions would be the same:

That is a very valid question and concern. Velocity 2X is a PS Vita game that we are also publishing on PS4.

We are getting all the performance we can squeeze out of the PS Vita for 60fps, post processing effects, lighting, particles etc. It looks lovely on PS Vita now, and it will only get better for release.

What you see [in the below video] is all PS Vita.

On PS4 we’ll be able to tweak things like the lifetime of the each individual particle, the number of particles, the number of lights we are able to have in the scene etc. Things that don’t make sense on the PS Vita screen as it would get too cluttered, but will make sense on the TV.

Since FuturLab is never content with just working on just one thing at a time, they will be unveiling yet another project this Friday. FuturLab warns though, “Just to manage your expectations, it’s not on the same scale as Velocity 2X, but it is awesome :).”

And if that wasn’t enough, “After the other project announcement on Friday, there’s more good news the following week.”

What do you think their new project will be? Let us know in the comments below.
