Shuhei Yoshida: Don’t Worry, “You are Able to Sell or Share Your Disc PS4 Products”

After the new Software Usage Terms were revealed yesterday in Europe, some people began to worry that they wouldn’t be allowed to resell their PlayStation 4 games upon reading this:

You must not resell either Disc-based Software or Software Downloads, unless expressly authorised by us and, if the publisher is another company, additionally by the publisher.

Since Sony had said they would allow used games/physical game sharing on the PS4 at E3, this seemed like a non-issue, but many people have been wondering if this signifies a Sony reversal. Quick to clear up any confusion was Shuhei Yoshida, who said:

If you are concerned about our new European TOS, we confirm that you are able to sell or share your disc PS4 products, including in EU.

Yoshida spoke to Gamasutra separately about this as well:

That’s the terms of service on the European side of PSN. We have no DRM, no new DRM at all. It’s just a legal thing. People can sell PS4 disc games like we’ve been saying publicly… Legal people come up with these things.
