Naughty Dog’s PS4 Engine is “Just Getting” Up and Running for Uncharted, TLOU PS4: “We Will see What the Future Brings”

Following the huge success of The Last of Us critically and commercially earlier this year, many people were wondering if Naughty Dog’s blockbuster would eventually make it to PS4. Sadly, that possibility was quickly shot down by Community Strategist Eric Monacelli who said, “We have no plans to do that,” back in October.

However, after revealing how we can expect to hear all about The Last of Us’ single player DLC in January last week, Monacelli gave a new answer to the question of whether or not we might see The Last of Us on PS4:

We’re just getting our Naughty Dog engine up and running on PS4 as we work on the next Uncharted project. We will see what the future brings! 🙂

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE LAST OF US IF YOU STILL HAVEN’T PLAYED IT

Also on the topic of The Last of Us, Eric responded to a question that asked why they had such a big time jump at the beginning of the game:

That was a design decision. Not sure if we’ll ever revisit the outbreak itself but we certainly left that narrative space open. Check out The Last of Us: American Dreams for some information about what was going on during those 20 years.

Would you like to see the 20 years following the outbreak explored in some form or another? Or do you hope Naughty Dog continues the story they established in The Last of Us? Let us know in the comments below.
