2K Czech Team Relocated to Studio in Brno and California Headquarters, Layoffs Expected

According to a statement from 2K Games, their facility in Prague will be shut down, with the team relocated to Brno and with some resources from both studios being relocated to the US headquarters.

We have relocated and consolidated our 2K Czech team from our Prague facility to centralize resources in our location in Brno. Additionally, we are transferring some development resources from Prague and Brno to 2K headquarters in Novato, CA.

This transition will both strengthen the integration of the 2K Czech team with our award winning development teams, and better align cross-functional business practices. As part of this realignment, we are adjusting our staffing levels, resulting in the elimination of some positions.

There is no telling what this relocation and the ensuing layoffs mean for any projects in development from 2K Czech. The studio was known for 2010’s Mafia II and speculation says they have been working on Mafia III, although nothing has been confirmed. We’ll be sure to let you know if any new information becomes available.
