  • When asked about the chances of releasing Grand Theft Auto V on other platforms (besides the PS3 and Xbox 360), Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, “If that is where consumers are, absolutely. But we wouldn’t drive them there, we would just be there if they are there.” He then added, “We are not in the hardware business, we don’t have any dog in that hut, we just want to be where the consumer is.” [Source]
  • Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition for PS4 and PS Vita, and Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends on PS3, were confirmed for a release date of March 25th in North America and April 4th in Europe. [Press Release]
  • Ubisoft finally confirmed today that Far Cry Classic will be downloadable for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America on Tuesday, February 11th at $9.99. This new version of Far Cry includes graphical enhancements, revamped cut-scenes, and a fresh new user interface. Europe sees Far Cry Classic on February 12th. [Press Release]
  • According to Tribute Games, Mercenary Kings on PS4 is complete, in Sony’s hands, and the release date depends on them now. Provided the game passes certification, it should be out soon. [Twitter]
  • It isn’t mentioned which one, but Sumo Digital (Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed) is currently hiring for a new game in “one of the most successful driving franchises of all time.” Sumo also says they “have several other unannounced but extraordinarily exciting AAA games in production.” [Via, Source]
  • Following the success of Disney Infinity, Disney Chairman Bob Iger confirmed that “there will be new iterations.” He added, “What’s next of course is, new iterations of that, a 2.0 or 3.0 and mining a broader set of our more popular characters.” Looks like Skylanders will have competition for at least a little while longer!   • With Capcom’s latest financial report, they revealed how Resident Evil: Revelations has sold 1.1 million copies on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U, with DuckTales: Remastered performing better-than-expected. Despite those two successes for the company, Lost Planet 3 came in below their expectations of 1.2 million sold, which they say was “due in part to intensifying competition,” though they didn’t say how much it actually moved.   • Producer Kazunori Sugiura gave some bad news to anyone in Japan wanting to play Deep Down on their PS4 anytime soon, revealing that the upcoming title has been delayed, with more information expected after summer. Part of the reasoning behind the delay is that they don’t want to be told it could have been done on the PlayStation 3 and they want to take advantage of the PS4’s specs. [Translation, Source]
  • As part of a new interview, Team Ninja Team Leader Yosuke Hayashi teased, “We’re also developing a PlayStation 4 title internally, so please look forward to future updates.” [Translation, Source]
  • Shadows of the Damned Game Director and Ovosonico Founder Massimo Guarini chimed in on the recent Ground Zeroes length discussion by saying, “When creators are forced to justify the length of a game, I think that’s one of the biggest failure of our industry.” [Via, Twitter]
  • According to Lead Level Artist Stephanie Seaut, Ubisoft Montreal has been working on an “unannounced AAA title” for over a year, with Lead Game Designer Simon Larouche suggesting it will be for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. [Via, Source 1, 2]
  • Pete Hines, Bethesda’s PR man, was recently asked about what Bethesda is currently working on. He replied, “We are not talking about what they are working on and will not be for quite a long time.” [Via, Twitter]
  • Analyst David Gibson live-tweeted the Konami earnings call earlier this week. One tweet read: “Konami admitting Ground Zeroes is a bit short, MGS5 could be released in FY[Q3]/2015 or FY[Q3]/2016 depending on the development stage.” Another said: “Konami budgeted to release 7 major console titles this year and sees the same number released in FY[Q3]/2015.” So, based on these, we should expect 14 major console titles from Konami in the next two years, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain may be a couple years away.   • Helldivers Game Director Johan Pilestedt confirmed that “the game will run at 1080p/60fps on the PS4, 720p/30fps on PS3, and native resolution on Vita in 30fps.” [Source]

  • Wrapping up what was a fairly busy week for The Order: 1886, Ready at Dawn Founder Andrea Pessino answered whether the game would be 1920x1080p or 1920x800p by saying, “Not set in stone yet, but we do run 4xMSAA which looks spectacular! x800 with AA looks MUCH better than x1080 without :).” He added, “To be clear, x800 with 4xMSAA needs more bandwidth than x1080 would, so 1080 no MS would be cheaper.” [Twitter 1, 2]
  • Later addressing that same topic, Pessino said, “The aspect ratio is a core artistic choice (frame, FOV, etc), added performance is a bonus, but nowhere near crucial. I very much doubt that vision is going to change at this point. The game is built around it :).” [Twitter 1, 2]
