inFamous: Second Son Officially Goes Gold; “All but Four Cutscenes are Real Time”

With under a month to go before inFamous: Second Son launches for the PS4 on March 21st in North America and Europe, Sucker Punch’s Jason Connell and Brian Fleming have confirmed that the game has gone gold:

For a little more information about Second Son, Connell added, “Time flies… 8 Time of Days in the game, new hardware, physical based lighting, new fx. It was a fun project.” Elaborating on the Time of Days, Connell said, “I could talk for days about this. For story reasons we lately keep TODs static. There are a few exceptions, but I spend a lot of time trying to make TODs feel dynamic and have movement in clouds.. But largely are tied with narrative.”

Switching over to the lighting, Connell is a fan of Second Son’s and “open world makes for a hard lighting system design. Making streets wet and reflective. Reflective streets, nice haze, and gorgeous cutscenes… That was the most important.”

After someone on Twitter brought up the cutscenes in Second Son, Sucker Punch’s Billy Harper confirmed, “All but four cutscenes are real time. Even those are rendered from the engine. Our rendering engine is insane!!”
