Report: Watch Dogs Closed Beta Shows up on Xbox One Game Store, is Quickly Removed

Over on Reddit, users AbletoFail and mouse2012 have posted two images that seem to reveal an early publishing of a Watch Dogs Closed Beta on the Xbox One Games Store, though they are both listed as placeholders and have since been removed:

As you can see from the more detailed image, the Watch Dogs Closed Beta would take up 23.07GB on Xbox One, and would most likely allow you to play through Watch Dogs normally, with other people dropping in via the game’s multiplayer functionality.

Since this is an image from an unverified Reddit user (even if they are a Day One adopter of the Xbox One), take this Closed Beta news as a rumor for now. Also, the description for the Watch Dogs Closed Beta contains an error when they use “who’s” instead of “whose”, so take that as you will:

You are Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker but also a former thug, who’s criminal past lead to a violent family tragedy.

In a world led by technology, you will be able to hack and manipulate the city’s systems to stop traffic lights, detonate gas lines, turn off the electrical grid and more. The city of Chicago has become the ultimate weapon for a man bent on revenge.

When Eurogamer reached out to Ubisoft for more information, they declined to comment.

If you have 30 seconds, PlayStation released this Watch Dogs #PS4Share video, showing off some of the cool things you can do in the game:

Provided the Closed Beta is real, and isn’t an internal test that won’t be available to the public, we’ll let you know as soon as we hear more information about it.

Would you download and play through a Watch Dogs Beta before the game launches on May 27th? Let us know in the comments below.
