PlayStation Software Product Dev Head Scott Rohde is “Very Excited” About Upcoming Sony Santa Monica Project

With the Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End trailer stealing the show, it was easy to forget that projects from Sony Santa Monica and Media Molecule were absent from the PlayStation E3 press conference.

To try to get more information about what those studios are working on, CVG caught up with PlayStation Software Development Head Scott Rohde, where he highlighted the fact that they gave us a release date for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Remastered and a new trailer for Uncharted 4. Then, he continued by mentioning Sony Santa Monica:

I am as excited as ever about what Naughty Dog is doing now and in the future. Santa Monica – same thing. As you can imagine, in my role I’m at those studios all the time. I was just there a couple of weeks ago reviewing their latest work on some of the games that you’ve seen and some that you haven’t, and I’m very excited about it.

The interviewer probed further about whether or not these projects are taking longer than expected, and if there was something holding them back:

Nothing is holding them back. Again, I’ve just reviewed latest progress and it’s great. I’m excited about what’s coming from those studios. In a perfect world there would be no PR restrictions and I could talk about everything.

I know you’re hitting on the internal team specifically. I know what they’re working on, I’m very excited about it, and some day you’ll hear about it.

Elsewhere, Rohde was asked if the PS4 feature that allows you to remotely take control of a friend’s PS4 and help them in a game was still on track. After giving an answer of “I don’t think that we’re discussing the latest on that right now,” a Sony rep chimed in and said, “It’s still a feature that’s planned, but at this time there’s not a update in terms of timing for it.”
