Polyphony: Gran Turismo 7 is Being Worked on, Probably Won’t Release in 2014

It appears Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi’s comment from last year that Gran Turismo 7 might release in 2014 was a little bit too optimistic, as he recently confirmed to Eurogamer: “We are working on the title. I don’t think it’ll make this year!”

So, while you may have to wait until 2015 for Gran Turismo 7, Yamauchi said, “I don’t think it’ll be a Prologue.” This means Polyphony will jump directly into full development on Gran Turismo 7 and release it all at once, rather than a small portion of it first, like they did with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

Speaking to some of the updates you’ll find in Gran Turismo 7, Yamauchi said, “I think the quality of the sounds in Gran Turismo 6 will be improved, but most of the work will be done in Gran Turismo 7.” Back in September, it was revealed that a post-launch update for Gran Turismo 6 was in the works to improve the audio, so it would seem that patch is still in the works.

Yamauchi finished up by saying, “I doubt that we’ll be throwing away the standard cars,” with Polyphony “more focused on increasing the number of premium cars.”

Do you think we’ll see Gran Turismo 7 in 2015 on PS4?
