Developer West Games Accused of Kickstarter Scam, Responds by Calling Sites “Unprofessional”

Developer West Games that is behind a Kickstarter campaign for PlayStation 4 game, Areal, has been accused by sites of running a scam. West Games has responded by calling out journalists and stating the sites are biased and “unprofessional.”

Areal is a post-apocalyptic video game that has already met its Kickstarter goal of $50,000. However, claims made by the developer that the West Games team comprises of staff who worked on STALKER have been disputed. Eurogamer has reported that only one staff member, artist Yuriy Negrobov, may have worked on the game.

Other sites have reported that the developer is using footage from STALKER: Call of Pripyat, and passing it as Areal’s. Additionally, West Games is accused of using old assets and concept art that was developed for a STALKER title. Addressing the controversy, the developer said:

Ultimately, this is a case of a coordinated effort by a bunch of trolls to do everything in their power to destroy our project. They spam every news site they see, and unfortunately, some news sites listen to them.

Oh dear!
