Hotline Miami Publisher Comes to LGBT Gaming Convention’s Rescue After NIS America Pulls Out

Hotline Miami publisher, Devolver Digital, has decided to step in to rescue LGBT gaming convention, GaymerX, after its original sponsor NIS America pulled out earlier this week. The company is offering $3,000 for GaymerX 2015.

Despite the convention’s organizers promoting NIS America, the publisher told GaymerX CEO Matt Conn that it will not be able to pay sponsorship fees. It should be noted that the event heavily relies on sponsorship offers.

They agreed to $3,000 to be the official sponsor of the VIP party and open bar. This was originally $5,000, which actually was 75% off the $20K asking, but we were desperate. We wanted to do a lot more, but basically we said ‘all the drinks are paid for by NIS America’ and we spent around 15K on the VIP party.

NIS America cited budget issues as the reason for pulling out. In the meanwhile, Thomas Was Alone developer Mike Bithell has announced that he will match Devolver Digital’s offer of $3,000 to support GaymerX.

Do our readers think NIS America should be held accountable for backing out of the deal?
