Ni No Kuni Co-Developer Studio Ghibli Undergoing Restructuring, Rumored to be Shutting Down

Ni No Kuni: Wratch of the White Witch co-developer Studio Ghibli doesn’t seem to be doing too well. The Japanese animation studio, which worked with Level-5 on the game, is undergoing restructuring, and there are rumors that it will shut down due to poor profits.

A translated transcript of General Manager Toshio Suzuki’s announcement was made available by Anime News Network, in which he confirmed halting production and downsizing staff. Rumors of the company’s closure aren’t new as its recent releases haven’t been profitable.

Ni No Kuni was a well-received game. PSLS’s Cameron reviewed the title and noted that it was a “terrific tale of adventure.” You can read his review in full here.

Our thoughts go out to the guys at Studio Ghibli and although downsizing seems to be inevitable, we hope that at the very least, the studio survives.
