Publisher 2K Games has announced that it has shipped over 10 million copies of Borderlands 2. What’s more, a spokesperson has confirmed that overall, the Borderlands franchise has shipped over 18 million copies to date — now that’s a lot of loot!

During parent company Take-Two Interactive’s financials call, President Karl Slatoff chimed in on the latest entry in the franchise, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Our view is that if you give consumers what they want, they come out for it. Our catalog sales have done very well – as we announced in this quarter, it’s one of the key reasons we were able to beat in the quarter. We have a lot of faith in the Borderlands franchise. There’s still a huge install base of consumers; Borderlands is beloved …. We have very high hopes for The Pre-Sequel for current-gen platforms and PC, indeed. But it will be reliant on quality, and we expect to deliver a really high-quality game.

You can check out The Pre-Sequel’s latest gameplay trailer here, as well as read up on how now-gen versions are possible.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will shoot out to store shelves this October 14 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
