Sledgehammer: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Multiplayer to Have Environmental Destructibility, Can’t be Player-Activated

If you were expecting Battlefield-like destruction in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer, then you’re out of luck. While the latest entry in the yearly shooter will have environmental destruction, it won’t be player-activated.

Speaking to PlayStation LifeStyle in an exclusive interview, we asked Sledgehammer Games’ Senior Development Director, Judah Graham that particular question and here’s what he said in response.

Yes, there will be destructables in the maps, if you look at the lane changing aspect of what the tsunami did when came in, it isn’t a whole lot of destruction there, but the lanes change and it changes the way the map is played. You can use it to your strategic balance of the map, if you know when that time is coming. People running down that lower path, you mount your position at the top and force kills at point and use the map to your advantage.

We followed it up by asking if it’s randomly occurring or if players will be able to trigger these moments.

No, it is usually a set time in the maps. So, people will know when it is happening.

While environmental destruction might be limited in the game, that didn’t stop our own Dan O. from enjoying what he played of the Advanced Warfare multiplayer component. You can also check out some of his highlight moments in this video.

Make sure to keep an eye out for our full interview set to go live in the coming days.
