Rumor has it that Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. will play the role of Leonardo da Vinci in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie. The report originally came from Moviepilot, but has been reported by other websites as well.
If this is true, then it looks like the movie will be based on events that occurred in Assassin’s Creed II, the title in which da Vinci appeared as a close ally and friend of Florentine Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
Back in August, actor Michael Fassbender confirmed that he was still working on the Assassin’s Creed movie project amid rumors that he had bowed out. He said that the team wants to “respect the game” and that there’s a ton of content in the series that they could use in the movie.
