Resident Evil: Revelations Series ‘Aimed at Long-Time Resident Evil Fans’, Says Capcom

If you were wondering why the Resident Evil: Revelations sub-franchise exists within the Resident Evil franchise, Capcom has given you an answer.

Speaking with Kotaku recently, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Producer Michiteru Okabe revealed that the numbered Resident Evil games “are more action-oriented” and they are “aimed at a wide, mass audience.” This approach of appealing to a mass audience ultimately hurt the previous numbered title, Resident Evil 6.

For the Revelations series, Okabe says they are “aimed at long-time [Resident Evil] fans who want a more traditional, survival horror experience.”

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is scheduled for launch in early 2015 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. It will first be released as an episodic title, then bundled together at retail stores and through digital stores.
