This news was confirmed in a statement to Joystiq by Sony, where they also revealed that the price of PS+ isn’t planned to go up in North America:

We slightly increased prices for PlayStation Plus in South Africa, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, and India regions due to various market conditions. Currently, price adjustments are not being planned for PS Plus in the SCEA [North American] region.

As for Europe, a Sony rep told IGN, “Customers will be notified of any price adjustments for their subscription services but there is nothing to announce at this time.”
