PSN Back Online (Update 7)

Update 7:

As of about 7pm PT on October 16, the PlayStation Network is back online and operational.

Update 6 (4:11pm PT):

Larger problems still loom, but Ask PlayStation says, “For some users [the PSN] is working now. Please restart your system and try again. If the issue persists please try again later.”

In case you haven’t seen it yet, PlayStation revealed further details about the upcoming PS4 firmware update 2.00.

Update 5 (3:39pm PT):

The PSN is still experiencing issues, and as Ask PlayStation says, “We don’t have a specific ETA; please keep an eye out for updates.”

Update 4 (2:25pm PT):

While people are reporting that they’ve been able to connect to the PSN, Sony still says there’s issues and they have “no time updates–we’re working to get things online as quickly as possible.”

Update 3 (12:40pm PT):

According to Sony’s PSN Status page, the PSN is fully offline. They offered up this statement in response:

PSN is currently offline, and we are hard at work to resume service. At this time an estimate as to when PSN will be online is unavailable.

If you’re experiencing problems with your friends list, that’s also due to the PSN connection issues.

Update 2 (12:10pm PT):

As of right now, Ask PlayStation says there’s no ETA for when the PSN issues might be fixed:

No ETA available, our Team is working hard to fix the issues as soon as possible, thank you for your patience.

Update (11:50am PT):

The Ask PlayStation Twitter account has now acknowledged issues with the PlayStation Network, suggesting you try to connect later:

“The PSN is currently experiencing issues connecting. Please try again later.”

“If you are having issues connecting to PSN, please try again later. Thanks for your patience as we look into it.”

Original Story:

Over the last ten minutes or so, Reddit and Twitter have been flooded with reports of PSN friends lists disappearing and an error message saying, “The connection to the server has been terminated.”

As well, Bungie Help tweeted out that they’re aware of people experiencing sign-in issues with Destiny on PS4 and PS3.

Since PlayStation hasn’t acknowledged any PSN down issues, we don’t know if this is a momentary issue or something more widespread, so stay tuned for updates as they arrive.

Have you been having troubles with the PSN at all today?
