The UK may soon imprison internet trolls for up to two years if they subject their victims to particularly nasty abuse.
The new law proposals, which have been revealed to the public by Justice Secretary Chris Grayling, come after model Chloe Madeley was recently subjected to brutal rape threats on Twitter. Currently, UK law allows for abusers to be imprisoned for up to six months, but Grayling noted that that should change to two years.
These internet trolls are cowards who are poisoning our national life. No one would permit such venom in person, so there should be no place for it on social media. That is why we are determined to quadruple the current six-month sentence.
The harsher legislation is already being called “Chloe’s Law” after Grayling made references to her case when announcing the legislation. What do you think of this law? Should this be adopted by the US?
