Report: DriveClub Programming Error Led to Server Problems, Says PlayStation France Boss

Earlier this week at Paris Games Week, Game Blog France spoke with PlayStation France boss Philippe Cardon about the troubled DriveClub launch, and he said the problem is due to the game’s programming, not just a lack of servers.

Here’s his translated quote:

In the programming of the game, there was an error that prevents us from welcoming enough players at the same time… All this is being reprogrammed, but it takes much longer than simply adding 1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 servers.

Cardon continued by saying DriveClub requires “more than a patch” to fix the issues, and like Shuhei Yoshida said earlier today, he doesn’t know when everything will be resolved.

What we’ve heard from Evolution Studios about the DriveClub problems is that no server performance issues were encountered leading up to launch, but the servers hit their limit shortly after the midnight launch on October 7.
