Yesterday, we reported that DerpTrolling’s claims of hacking into the PlayStation Network, 2K and Windows Live may have been fake. While Microsoft released a statement promising to investigate the issue, Sony and 2K declined to comment. However, a Sony representative has now spoken to Joystiq, and has assured users that there was no intrusion into the PlayStation Network.
We have investigated the claims that our network was breached and have found no evidence that there was any intrusion into our network. Unfortunately, Internet fraud including phishing and password matching are realities that consumers and online networks face on a regular basis. We take these reports very seriously and will continue to monitor our network closely.
