Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare & Destiny Are the Two Best-Selling Games of 2014 in the US

With the NPD report for November 2014 released yesterday, Activision announced that, according to retail sell-through data compiled by the NPD, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the #1 selling console game of 2014 in the United States, with Destiny right behind it 2nd. Additionally, Skylanders is the #1 kids video game franchise for the entire year in the US, based on retail sell-through including toys and accessories.

Despite having just launched at the beginning of November, Advanced Warfare is not only the best-selling console game so far in 2014, but it’s also the best-selling game individually on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. According to Activision, this latest victory for Call of Duty marks the 6th consecutive November where it lead in console game sales.

As for Destiny, Activision says it is the ” #1 top-selling new video game franchise of the year through November.”

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg talked about the big numbers:

To date, 2014 has been a series of number ones for Activision Publishing: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the #1 top-selling game of the year, Skylanders is the #1 kids video game franchise of the year, and Destiny is the #1 top-selling new video game franchise of the year. We are excited about how fans have responded to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Destiny and Skylanders Trap Team, and have even more great new content in store in 2015.

Do you think there’s any chance Advanced Warfare won’t be the best-selling game of 2014 once the year is over?
