RPG Pinball Game “Rollers of the Realm” Cost Around $700,000 and Took Around Three Years to Create

Even though Rollers of the Realm, the RPG-pinball hybrid that was released in November, is a fairly small, digital-only game, it cost a whopping $700,000 for Phantom Compass to create.

While this might not sound like a huge budget compared some AAA titles –think Destiny, which cost around $500 million to make — it is nothing to scoff at considering the game is only costs around $10 to purchase and play. The budget was revealed in an interview Gamasutra did with some members of Phantom Compass, who talked about the creation of the game.

With a core team of three to seven developers and a number of part-time contractors, Rollers of the Realm took around three years to fully complete from start to finish. Numerous voice actors, including one who played Willow the Dog, also worked on the title. After all of their hard work, Rollers of the Realm released on November 18, 2014 for the PS4, PS Vita, and PC.

Have you played Rollers of the Realm? What do you think of the game’s budget?
