Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series, recently took to Twitter to talk about the development of, assumedly, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which is set to come out sometime this year.

In a series of tweets, he discusses the “phase of adjustment,” which, according to Kojima, seems to be the phase in testing that seeks to make sure an upcoming game “is fun” or is properly balanced.

Kojima also mentions that tutorials are tricky to put into open world games, considering the appeal of the games is that they are open and free to explore, and a tutorial would somewhat restrict that at first. Assumedly, the comments were offhand and just meant to shed some light on the game creation and game testing processes, but who knows. If The Phantom Pain arrives without any sort of tutorial mode in the beginning, at least we will know why.

What do you think of Kojima’s tweets? Did any stand out to you at all?
