10 Minutes of Flame Over PS Vita Gameplay Revealed

A fast-paced action game built upon roguelike principles, Flame Over from Laughing Jackal received a 10-minute Let’s Play video by Producer and Designer Alasdair Evans today. With the action beginning at 2:00, Evans takes you through the controls, how to find and extinguish fires, how rescuing people and cats is beneficial, and more.

Currently in the submission process at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (there was no mention of North America), Flame Over is planned to launch in February for the PlayStation Vita, with PlayStation TV compatibility expected as well. There will be a PlayStation 4 version in the coming months, but the game won’t include cross-buy.

Evans talked a bit about the gameplay:

The game only gives you a starting time of 5 minutes; after that you’ll need to earn time for yourself. Each person rescued provides 1 extra minute, while completing missions also throws a precious single minute your way. You can also buy or find time pickups during gameplay, but even so you’ll need to hurry!

If time runs out things become even more deadly as the Grim Reaper appears and chases Blaze around, moving through walls and doors and totally unaffected by the inferno. One touch from Grim means instant death! You should also be warned that an even tougher foe awaits those fire fighters who are less than honourable…

To make the game easier as you progress, upgrade tokens earned by completing missions can be spent on permanently upgrading your abilities.
