Borderlands PS3 Update Today Restores Online Multiplayer

Switched offline in May 2014 as a result of the GameSpy closure, Borderlands on PlayStation 3 received an update today that restores online multiplayer to the title in North America and Europe, with Japan getting the update soon.

Having been working on the restoration since the interruption last year, Gearbox revealed that this patch also brings a few other changes, including the new matchmaking system:

  • Within Borderlands multiplayer, you can sort your friends list in a few different ways: Who is playing Borderlands; Who is online; Alphabetical order
  • The “And They’ll Tell Two Friends” Trophy will now grant correctly
  • Improvements to voice chat

Gearbox adds, “If your save was previously stored in the cloud instead of on your PlayStation 3 hard drive, some settings such as screen brightness, Y-Axis invert, etc. may need to be reset.”

“Thanks to everyone for your patience as we worked to find a solution, and special thanks to the folks at 22nd Century Toys for helping to make this happen!”

Are you going to play Borderlands today to celebrate?
