Destiny Getting a “Major Content Release” This Fall, Says Activision
In their latest Weekly Update, Bungie confirmed that the next Destiny expansion, House of Wolves, will be released at some point in Q2 2015 (April 2015 – June 2015).
For right now, they’re keeping House of Wolves a secret:
There is a special team here that’s dedicated to creating some new ways for you to play Destiny. They’re also making the game you know a better reflection of what we’ve learned about you since you’ve started playing. While they do their thing, we’ll walk the fine line between making you a part of the process and providing them with a safe place to explore possibilities and do their best work.
At the end of this announcement, Bungie teased, “And on a long enough timeline, we’ll also talk about what we’re planning for this Fall.”
During the Activision earnings call yesterday, CEO Eric Hirshberg touched upon what they’re planning for Fall 2015 by saying, “Later this year, we will announce a major content release for the fall, so stay tuned.”
Later in the call, CFO Dennis Durkin called the major content update a “smaller release” than what Destiny was.
Earlier this year, a leaked image surfaced, suggesting that a new piece of content called Comet: Plague of Darkness would be available in September. A retail and digital release, Comet would add new subclasses, new weapons types, new PvP maps, twelve story missions, and more.
We still don’t know if Comet is real, but it appears we’ll only have to wait a few months before learning more about what‘s coming to Destiny later this year.
