FutureGrind Announced for PS4, is a “Bit Like Uniracers Meets OlliOlli”

Developed by the two-person team at Milkbag Games, FutureGrind is a skill-based stunt racer coming to PlayStation 4.

Calling it “a bit like Uniracers meets OlliOlli,” FutureGrind is all about skills, tricks, and speed as you play on a track made of blue, red, and white rails. Using a futuristic vehicle called a grinder, your goal is to reach the end of the track in one piece, while also scoring the most points possible.

As you can see in the trailer, the grinder has one red wheel and one blue wheel. If your wheel doesn’t match up with the correct rail, you’ll cause a short circuit, which leads to “a bit of a mess.”

Studio Co-Founder Owen Goss adds:

Survival is important in FutureGrind, but it’s really just the baseline. In order to succeed, you’ll need to get good at doing chains of tricks. Points are awarded to you based on how you grind on the rails. Balance on top of a rail for a Manual. Boost up into the bottom of a rail for an Undergrind. Dangle from the top of a rail for a Hanger, and so on. Rack up long grinds to increase your score. Do flips in the air for big points. Transfer between rails flawlessly to build your chain multiplier. Only skilled players will earn endorsements from The Sponsors and progress through the game.

Noting how there’s “still a lot of work to do” with FutureGrind, Goss adds that they have a bunch of environments planned, all with multiple tracks, as well as new grinders and more.
