PS3 Update 4.70 Now Available for Download

Rather than just giving us another stability patch, Sony released PS3 update 4.70 last night, which made a few changes to closed captions, while also switching up the design of the PlayStation Network logo.

Here’s the list of patch notes you’ll find when going to update the system software on your PS3:

  • Closed Captions are now supported for the Playback of Blu-Ray Disc titles and DVDs. To display closed captions, select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions].
  • The style used for for closed captions, such as the font, size and color, can now be adjusted. Select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions Settings].

When checking the US and UK PlayStation sites for more info, the US site has yet to update, while the UK site just says, “Operation quality during use of some applications has been improved.”

In terms of updates for the other systems, the PlayStation 4 is expected to receive one soon, while the PlayStation Vita is getting one in March, which will end support for some features.

Have you noticed any other changes with the update?
