Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Release Date Revealed in Leaked Video

Update:

Following today’s leak, Konami sent out this tweet, confirming there’s still more announcements to come tomorrow:

Original Story:

While things were supposed to be kept secret until 6am PT/9am ET tomorrow, March 4, the IGN video featuring a message from Hideo Kojima leaked out ahead of time, thanks to NeoGAF user Nibel.

At the 7:04 mark of the video, it’s revealed that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release worldwide on Tuesday, September 1. Unless something’s changed, it should be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow for official details.

Also in the video, Kojima said Snake will be more of a silent protagonist like in Mad Max and Mad Max 2. Additionally, he sees Metal Gear Solid V as the “last Metal Gear,” even if the franchise continues, as it wraps up the Metal Gear saga seen in the games he’s personally designed and produced.

What do you think of the September 1 release date for The Phantom Pain?
