PlayStation Plus Version of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty on PS4 Doesn’t Include Cross-Buy With PS3 or PS Vita (Update)

Update (April 22):

With the launch of the PlayStation 3 version this week, the developers have reversed their stance on the PlayStation Plus version of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, giving owners free access to the PS3 and PlayStation Vita versions through cross-buy.

Here’s the their statement on the matter:

When the PS4 version of New ‘n’ Tasty was featured in March 2015’s PlayStation Plus line-up, the PS3 and PS Vita versions were very much still in development (indeed, the PS Vita version still is) and so it was our intention then that only the PS4 version of the game would form part of the PS Plus system.

Developing the other versions of the game is not a simple, cost-free process, and takes time, money and considerable effort.

That said, numerous factors (including fan feedback) have prompted us to change our stance on this particular matter. So, if you downloaded New ‘n’ Tasty for PS4 during the PS Plus period, the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game will be free for download for you on release.

News on the PS Vita version is expected soon.

Original Story):

Available as part of the March 2015 PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection in North America and Europe, anyone who downloads Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty for free on PS4 through PS+ won’t gain access to the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita versions when they eventually launch.

This news was confirmed by the Oddworld Inhabitants Twitter account, who said, “The free copy isn’t Cross-Buy. If you bought New ‘n’ Tasty (or buy it in the future) it’s Cross-Buy.” In a separate tweet, they re-iterated, “If you’re getting New ‘n’ Tasty for free from PlayStation Plus, it’s for PlayStation 4 only – no Cross-Buy.”

As for those other versions of New ‘n’ Tasty, the game on PS Vita is undated at the moment, while the PS3 version is aiming to be released by the end of this month.

What are your thoughts on the PS+ version of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty not including cross-buy?
