PlayStation Now Private Beta Registration in UK Open Now, Starts This Spring

With PlayStation Now already available in the United States and Canada, Sony has announced that a UK private beta for PS Now is set go live in Spring 2015, and registration has begun.

Only available on PlayStation 4 for PlayStation Plus members, the PS Now private beta in the UK will allow those selected to try out the service for free, with game rentals during the initial stage free as well. They add, “However, later stages of the private beta will be used to test payment models and rental periods, which will require payment.”

Sony explained exactly what you’ll need take part in the beta if chosen:

You’ll need to own a PlayStation 4 system, be a regular player and have a reliable broadband internet connection. As a minimum, we recommend 5Mbps; if you’re unsure of your broadband speed, you can test your connection via your PS4.

You’ll also need an SEN account and a PlayStation Plus membership.

For the private beta, we’ll send you a voucher code to download a dedicated PS Now beta app from PlayStation Store.

The private beta will focus on PS Now via PS4 consoles only, but in the future we hope to extend that to other devices including select internet-ready Sony Bravia TVs, PlayStation 3, PlayStation TV and PlayStation Vita when the full PS Now service launches.

Games available in the private beta are expected to include Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, God of War: Ascension, Rayman Legends, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Just Cause 2, The Walking Dead, and Dirt 3. However, the games are subject to change throughout the beta.

If you aren’t a PlayStation Plus member, future beta trials won’t require it, and the full PlayStation Now service won’t require a membership when it launches.

As for the full version of PlayStation Now, there’s no release date yet, but Sony is planning on offering over 200 titles.

Will you be signing up for the private beta?
