Original Story:

Calling Mortal Kombat the “world’s biggest fighting game franchise,” Warner Bros announced today that Mortal Kombat X for mobile devices, developed by NetherRealm Studios, is now available to download on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, with an Android version coming soon.

A free-to-play game, Mortal Kombat X on mobile blends fighting and card collection, with more than 24 fighters on the initial roster, including Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kano, Raiden Cassie Cage, D’Vorah, and Kotal Kahn. You’ll be able to collect upgradeable gear for your fighters, while also unlocking Fatalities.

There’s also some connectivity between the mobile and console versions of the game, allowing you to unlock special content:

When the [PS4 and Xbox One] and PC versions of Mortal Kombat X launch on April 14, connectivity between platform versions will go live. This ecosystem among platforms will introduce team-based Faction Wars for the first time ever, and empower players to unlock special content between the mobile game and console or PC versions by completing tasks and achievements within each version. Every connected Mortal Kombat X player can participate regardless of platform device.

If you’re planning on picking up Mortal Kombat X next week, keep in mind that the day one patch is nearly 2GB.
