Final Fantasy XV Demo Version 2.0 Scheduled for May 2015, Includes Camera and Targeting Enhancements

During the recent Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae livestream with Director Hajime Tabata and Marketing Manager Akio Ofuji, it was revealed that an update is in the works for the demo to bring it to version 2.0.

While Tabata first thought it would be good to constantly upgrade Episode Duscae across various events, he now says, “It would be more ideal from the dev team’s perspective if we could distribute Episode Duscae version 2.0 to everyone who played the demo.”

Since patching demos is unprecedented, they’re discussing whether or not adding the update to current owners is feasible. “But we cannot say if we can actually distribute it,” Tabata adds. “If we can’t distribute it, then we’ll probably have it at some event, even though the number of players will be limited. But ideally, we want to distribute it to everyone.”

Square Enix hopes to release the new version of Episode Duscae in mid to late May.

Gematsu compiled a list of the changes coming in version 2.0:

  • AXB enhancements
  • Camera and targeting system enhancements
  • More joint attacks (the current demo has one) and in terms of triggering it, it might be different currently available one.
  • The range of actions for each weapons has been improved.
  • MP recovery and usage has been adjusted, like not using MP for perfectly timed evades.
  • Titan bug will be fixed.

Changes under consideration are individual quests (where all four party members aren’t required), a dodge roll, and frame-rate improvements. For the latter, it’s still being looked at and a decision will be made further down the road.

The Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae demo is currently only available in first edition copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
