In addition to playing as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you’ll also get to step into the shoes of his apprentice witcher, Ciri.

As part of IGN’s coverage on the game, they published a new gameplay video today, giving you a look at how Ciri performs in combat (action begins at :30).

Focusing more on linear missions, Lead Quest Designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz talked about Ciri in The Witcher 3:

Basically, Ciri is a totally different character than Geralt. She’s inherited this very powerful magic force that she can use when she needs to. She can travel between worlds, she also [has] some more hidden powers that she can use.

Because they wanted to put some limitations on her, Ciri will have completely different abilities from Geralt, as well as her own unique combat style.

Back in December, CD Projekt Red revealed when you’ll play as Ciri:

Ciri is playable only during certain moments in the game – we introduce her to give gamers another perspective in the story to make it even more engaging. You won’t play as her for long periods of time, but since she’s crucial to the plot, we thought that additional insight will allow gamers to better bond with this cool character.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases on May 19 in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
