Update:

The official announcement trailer for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition is placed above.

On the PlayStation Blog, Disney Interactive Community Manager Allison Petrek talked about the new Toy Box Expansion Games:

Toy Box Takeover (action-adventure) and Toy Box Speedway (kart racing) will bring all of your Disney Infinity characters together for all-new, structured multiplayer gameplay. You can bring all of your Disney, Disney•Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters from Disney Infinity 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 into these Toy Box Expansion Games as well as the enhanced Toy Box 3.0.

Original Story:

After images leaked out last month, Game Informer’s June 2015 cover reveal today officially confirmed that Disney Infinity 3.0 is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, iOS, and Android in Fall 2015.

With a huge focus on Star Wars this time around, Disney Infinity 3.0 development is lead by Avalanche Software yet again, while other studios will work on playsets. One of those studios is Ninja Theory (DmC Devil May Cry), who are creating the Twilight of the Republic playset, which is included inside the $64.99 Starter Pack.

As Game Informer explained:

[Twilight of the Republic] follows Anakin and Ahsoka as they fight to uncover who’s behind a freshly minted droid army. The story is set after Star Wars: Episode II, and it features land and space battles with plenty of melee combat. Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Darth Maul can enter the fray, too, as separately sold figures.

Meanwhile, the Rise Against the Empire playset from Studio Gobo recounts events of the original trilogy, including the battle of Yavin and moments on Hoth and Tatooine. Chewbacca, Han Solo, and Darth Vader figures will be sold separately, with Star Wars characters able to work across the Star Wars playsets.

Here’s a look at some of the other playsets and characters for Disney Infinity 3.0:

Playsets

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Winter 2015)
  • Inside Out (TBA)
  • Marvel: Focused on Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron, and more (TBA)

Figures

  • Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse
  • Sam Flynn
  • Quorra
  • Mulan
  • Olaf
  • and more

And here’s a rundown of some of the changes with Disney Infinity 3.0:

  • Improved melee combat with adjusted timing and added depth for advanced players.
  • Improved driving with smoother handling and drifting.
  • Toy Box gets an updated hub world, toys for new players and experts, and a new farming system.
  • New Power Discs are also coming, and they’ll allow you to see what you’re getting before you buy them.

Will you be getting Disney Infinity 3.0 this year?
