Activision Blizzard Financials Reveal Destiny is at 20 Million Players, Advanced Warfare is the #1 Next-Gen Game

It was a strong start to the year for Activision Blizzard, as the company reported Q1 2015 net revenue of $1.28 billion, which is higher than the $1.11 billion seen in Q1 2014. A record 45% ($581 million) of that was from digital sales.

For some interesting stats about their games, Activision Blizzard says the combined registered player totals for Destiny and Hearthstone are at 50 million. With Hearthstone recently crossing 30 million, this would put Destiny around 20 million players.

People are continuing to play Destiny quite a bit as well, with active players spending an average of three hours per day with it. The game’s also experiencing “strong digital sales and expansion attach rates.”

Elsewhere, Activision Blizzard reports having two of the top five video game franchises in North America and Europe year-to-date, along with three of the top five “next generation games” life-to-date. This includes Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which became the top-selling new-gen game when it launched last year, and remains at #1 to this day. There’s also been early success with Advanced Warfare’s new micro-transactions.

When you include toys, Skylanders was the #1 console franchise and title globally in Q1 2015, it outsold the #1 action figure line globally, and was the #1 kids console franchise and title globally.
