Ubisoft Reveals the Top 20 Best-Selling Console Franchises of the Last 10 Years

Just as they did in 2013 and 2014, Ubisoft’s financials revealed the top 20 best-selling franchises since 2005, according to retail numbers compiled by NPD and GfK.

Including retail sales from 2005 – 2014 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii, and PC, here’s the top 20 franchises of the past 10 years:

  1. Call of Duty (Activision Blizzard)
  2. Mario (Nintendo)
  3. FIFA Soccer (EA)
  4. Grand Theft Auto (Take-Two)
  5. Assassin’s Creed (Ubisoft)
  6. Wii Fit (Nintendo)
  7. Madden NFL (EA)
  8. The Sims (EA)
  9. Guitar Hero (Activision Blizzard)
  10. Battlefield (EA)
  11. Halo (Microsoft)
  12. Need for Speed (EA)
  13. Just Dance (Ubisoft)
  14. LEGO (Warner Bros)
  15. NBA 2K (Take-Two)
  16. Warcraft (Activision Blizzard)
  17. Sonic (Sega)
  18. Rock Band (EA)
  19. Elder Scrolls (Bethesda)
  20. Skylanders (Activision Blizzard)

*Note: Wii Fit, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band include hardware sales

Looking at the list, the top 3 are the same from last year, with Grand Theft Auto and Assassin’s Creed swapping 4th and 5th. Madden and The Sims also switched places, while LEGO moved up and Gears of War is off the list.

Ubisoft adds that Far Cry, Watch Dogs, The Division and Rainbow 6 are “strong contender for the next-gen top 20.”
