Following a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, Revolution Software announced that an enhanced version of Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Summer 2015. You’ll be able to buy it digitally or at retail, with the latter including a graphic novel.

Discussing the console version, Revolution Founder Charles Cecil revealed what the enhancements will be:

We are delighted to bring Broken Sword 5 to PS4 and Xbox One – with enhancements over the other versions including additional animation and audio, a character gallery section and many console-specific enhancements. The Broken Sword games have a proud history on previous PlayStation and Xbox consoles. There is such a loyal following for the Broken Sword games, as demonstrated by the 15,000 fans who backed the original Kickstarter campaign – it’s fantastic to now be able to bring the game to all those console owners who have requested that we write the game for their favorite platform.

As for the game itself, The Serpent’s Curse sees you playing as American George Stobbart and French journalist Nico Collard, who find themselves on the trail of a stolen painting and a murder conspiracy.

Here’s the game’s description:

Paris in the spring. Shots ring out from a gallery…

A robbery – a murder – and the beginning of another epic original Broken Sword adventure.

An adventure that will hurl intrepid lawyer George Stobbart and sassy journalist Nico Collard onto the trail of a murderous conspiracy forged in the cauldron of war-torn Europe. A conspiracy whose roots lie in mysteries older than the written word.

Armed only with logic, integrity and a wry sense of humour – can George and Nico outwit evil forces both ancient and modern and save mankind from disaster?

You can expect the adventure gameplay to go “from unique puzzles and deft subterfuge to cipher solving and time-honored detective work.”
