Take The Journey Home With LittleBigPlanet 3’s New Expansion Next Month
Marking the first major Premium Adventure Pack DLC for LittleBigPlanet 3, The Journey Home is releasing in July and will follow the next chapter for Sackboy, OddSock, Toggle, and Swoop as they take a “grand detour” of LittleBigPlanet after Newton’s teleportation contraption didn’t work quite as planned.
In The Journey Home, you’ll find a new Adventure featuring brand new levels based on fan-favorite themes and characters from LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2 re-imagined for LittleBigPlanet 3. Additionally, it includes co-op challenges, a bouncy new Power-up for OddSock, and a “goodie bag full of new creative assets.”
Before The Journey Home, this week sees some free content coming to the PlayStation Store when it updates in each region. “To show our gratitude to each and every one of you,” they say, “we decided to get together to create this range of costumes for Sackboy based on Sumo Digital, Tarsier Studios, and The Station for you all!”
Now that update 1.08 is available, the future of LittleBigPlanet 3 will see “many more exciting free content additions.”
Community Coordinator Steven Isbell answered a few questions about the content and LittleBigPlanet 3 in general:
- “You will get a chance to play as each character during The Journey Home and they will also pair up for some really unique co-op challenges that put their special skills to the test!”
- On water immersion: “If you dip Sackboy, OddSock, Toggle or Swoop in water or place them under the Rain Material, their skins will become visibly soaked depending on how immersed in the water they are.”
- “We are currently working on bringing the contents of the LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross-Controller Pack to LittleBigPlanet 3. It’s a bit more complicated than the other packs and is requiring some additional work to make it compatible. We are currently aiming to make this content available in LittleBigPlanet 3 by the end of July.”
Full details and pricing for The Journey Home will be revealed closer to release.
